Friends can really bring up your day or make it a living hell.
But I choose to focus on the good things.

14 Period Myths

Came across an article and thought it was interesting. So I've decided to share it :)
A few of them apply to most Asian girls, esp drinking cold drinks.

You can't go swimming when you have your period.
There is no reason to not go swimming when you have your period. With the right protection (tampons), your period is secured whatever activity you take on.

You should stay away from sex when you have your period.

Sex during your period can be a bit messy, but other than that it's OK if your partner is up to it, but remember that a period doesn't prevent the risk for pregnancy!

Exercise is bad for you when you have your period.

Exercising is almost always good for you. If you have cramps during your period exercise is actually the most effective cure!

You can lose your virginity by using a tampon. (never heard of)

Your virginity is a "status" that can only be lost by having intercourse.

You cannot get pregnant when you have your period.

This is how you get pregnant: An egg is released from the ovaries (ovulation). If sperm enter, they swim upstream, looking for that egg. If you’re lucky (depending on how you look at it, of course) the sperm fertilizes the egg - making you pregnant. Since it's possible for ovulation to occur during your period, it's possible for you to get pregnant when you have your period.

Your period comes every 28 days.
Cycles vary a lot - from person to person, but also from cycle to cycle. Especially in the beginning of your period you might experience very irregular periods (because ovulation hasn't really started).
Other reasons for irregular period cycles are, for example:
  •  Stress
  •  Travelling between time zones
  •  Strenuous exercise
  •  Illness
  •  Drastic weight change
  •  Not eating well

You lose a lot of blood during your period and should therefore rest a lot.

You lose about four tablespoons of blood during your period. So no need to panic or lie down. It looks a lot more than it actually is

Don’t wash your hair when you have your period

This is an old wives' tale and nothing to pay attention to. Believe us, it's totally OK to wash your hair when you have your period.

Some types of food are bad for you when you have your period.

Not true. When it comes to eating during your period the same rules apply

as when you don't have your period: Eat anything you want, but remember that

healthy food is called healthy for a reason.

If you don't get your period, you're definitely pregnant.

Just like we mentioned when we talked about period cycles being very different, there are many factors that can delay your period:
  •  Stress
  •  Travelling between time zones
  •  Strenuous exercise
  •  Illness
  •  Drastic weight change
  •  Not eating well
But if you've had sex, and your period is nowhere in sight: take a pregnancy test! That way you'll know for sure.

Women menstruating can catch a cold easily and should avoid cold water or iced drinks.

So its true eh?

Cold can make pain worse for some, but you will certainly not catch a cold by drinking cold liquids.

Women are always moody and irrational during menstruation.

(TRUE)

A lot of women (not everyone) experience some sort of PMS, but far from all symptoms are about mood swings and irrational behaviour.

Women having their period are more likely to be attacked by bears, sharks, etc.

(never heard of)

There is no evidence that supports this. Blood CAN attract sharks, but then again so can urine, sweat and all types of bodily fluids. No need to worry.

PMS is all in the mind

This myth probably remains from a time when Premenstrual Syndrome was looked at as an imagined disease. However, modern medicine proves that this is simply not the case. It's for real, and as many as 85% of all women experience some sort of symptoms.

Finally, the tiring week of practicing had passed.
Had been practicing modern dance for a competition held by UNIMAS in conjunction with Convocation Day.
I don't have the guts to stand in front of a crowd. What more to dance sexily in front of them?
But today, I've managed to gather all my courage and stand in the middle of a crowd and do my thing. I'm impressed actually. Never thought I would have done it in my life :)
Although we've only won the consolation prize, but I personally think its an achievement for us cause we only had a few hour of practice in a week due to other commitments. There were other participants, whereby from their look, style, appearance and attitude I'm able to guess that they're not newbies in dance competition. Who knows, we might compete again in the following year and get ourselves a trophy home :D

Getting back to UNIMAS, lately I've been having a one to one talk with my professors and all of them are very encouraging and friendly. My EPP lecturer, Mr Jaya and my mentor, Ms Wong is ever willing to help me if I were facing problems. My physical chem lecturer, Mr Pang is a very eco-friendly man. He encourage us to send in assignments and tutorials online via Unimas e-learning page cause he hate to waste paper and tells us to maximize the internet facilities that we have today. My Analytical lecturer seemed to have difficulties in gathering his words to construct English sentence during lecture. Nevertheless, I understands what he's trying to deliver. Even if I don't, he explains to me in person.

Before I sat for SPM in 2009, My genius 4 flat cousin advised me over and over again to take up STPM before entering Uni.
I was very scared cause I knew I was nowhere near him and wanted to give up so badly in my upper six.
But he kept on reminding me that if I can pull it through, it's gonna be much easier when I'm in Uni later on. And, he's right.

One lecturer from TARC main branch I would like to thank is Mr Low. Thanks to him, I'm able to keep up with my lectures.
If it wasn't for him, I would have been so lost in Chemistry, not having a single clue on what my both lecturers are reading about.
They go right to the point without explaining how the theory works, as they assumed that we've learned it in pre-U (STPM / Matriks) and proceeds.

So, taking up Form 6 was never a bad choice cause I used to think it was.
I really want to thank the other great lecturers in TARC for providing me a solid foundation (although I did badly in STPM) before entering UNIMAS.

IF I were to enter Uni right after SPM, I would have struggled so badly.
SPM is nothing compare to whatever we're gonna learn in Uni.
Its just the very very fundamental basics that we've learned.
So straight A's student, stop feeling so proud for the piece of paper you have in hand.
Its nothing compared to what you'll be studying later on.

You'll understand this someday later, just like how I do.

After a rough week, I'm gonna reward myself by finishing 3 episode of Bones Season 7 :D

Till then.

See no evil,
Speak no evil,
Hear no evil.

Something I MUST learn.

Learn to behave as your age please!
Common sense cant be taught.
But at least use your peanut-size brain to think.
Screaming at one-bloody-a.m is very very inconsiderate!
Playing with flour and not sweeping the floor is very irresponsible.
And playing in the area where your housemate hang their clothes is very STUPID.
